12 Fall Trends You Can Try Today
Whether you’re super into fashion or more on the modest side, fall is always an easy season to try new trends and step outside of your comfort zone. A lot of these trends continue from year to year, so grabbing some quality pieces is key to ensuring you won’t have to repeat buy every year. Here is your guide to trends you can try right now that will have your friends complimenting how great you look!
Puff Sleeves + Ruffle Tops
They’ve made their way back in recent years, and thank goodness they did. Puff sleeves elevate the look of any top, making it easy to throw one on with a pair on jeans and be ready to hit the town. Dress it up with a leather skirt, or throw on a pair of dress pants to head to the office. Either way, you should have at least one in your closet ready to grab!
Turtle-necks
Turtle-necks have been a go-to fall trend for years, and you’ll see even more this year with prints. Whether you’re into a more fitted or flowy style, there’s a turtleneck that’ll be perfect for you. This is an easy trend to try to add the perfect pop to your outfit in a minimal way. Pair it with jeans and an oversized peacoat/cardigan or layer it under an oversized sweater/leather jacket for an easy put-together look.
White Booties
Ditch the no wearing white after Labour Day and grab yourself a wait of white bottles! Whether you’re going for a casual look or something more dressy, they’re perfect to pair with pretty much any look for fall. White is easy to style with any colour, giving you a lot of room to work with outfit wise. Throw on a pair of white booties, some mom jeans and a sweater for a quick stylish look.
Knee-high Boots
I can’t see these going out of style anytime soon, so it’s important to get a pair that will last you a few seasons so you’re not dropping your cash on the same item every year. Knee-high boots are great over skinny jeans, but even more fashionable when paired with a mini skirt. They’re an easy grab for your wardrobe to stay on trend with minimal effort.
Military Boots
Getting chunkier by the year, military boots are a great piece to add a bit of edge to your style. They look great with sweat pants, mom jeans, and midi skirts, adding a bit of punk to your wardrobe. For an extra edgy look, pair with a midi skirt, a band tee, leather jacket and black sunnies. For something more casual, throw on a matching sweatsuit and lace your boots up all the way. Regardless of how you style them, people will think you’re stylish!
Oversized and Button-down Blouses
This trend is easy to go from day-time work day to night time drinks and is an easy one for anyone to try. Whether you do a simple tuck into your dress pants, or get creative to turn it into a crop top, a blouse is a wardrobe necessity that looks good with any bottom. Try doing a half tuck for a care-free look, or pair with a leather skirt for a dressier look.
Leopard + Cheetah
These prints are part of the family I always recommend grabbing when you see on sale. Why? Because they never go out of style. Leopard and cheetah are neutral of prints, making it easy to style with pretty much any type of outfit. Whether you want to keep it subtle in your accessories, be a little bolder with a shirt/bottom with a full print, or grab a sweater, these prints are sure to have you looking fabulous for fall no matter how you wear them.
Midi Skirts
One of my personal favourite trends, this one is great for multiple body types. Midi skirts are great if you’re shorter and want the long look, but don’t want to look like you’re two feet tall. Style with a blouse or dressy top for a going out look, or throw on some military boots, sneakers, or white booties with a graphic tee for a causal streetstyled look.
Sneakers
Everyone needs a simple pair of white sneakers in their wardrobe. If you’re brave enough, chunky sneakers are all the rage right now, but you can also use a simple white sneaker to create an even more casual look. Chunky sneakers look great with blazers for a high-fashion look, while you can use your simple white sneaker with any type of bottom, dresses included, to look effortlessly chic.
Blazers
Blazers are a great top layer to add a pop of print to your wardrobe or to crisp up an outfit. Whether you choose to style with biker shorts, belt and sneakers, or throw over a white-tee with mom jeans and sneakers, the possibilities are endless. This is another trend that repeats year after year, so if you can invest in a good over-sized black blazer, you should. Find a neutral coloured plaid blazer and add it to your wardrobe for a more European look.
Thin Ribbed Knits
Whether it’s a dress, a two-piece set, or a turtle-neck, ribbed knits are everywhere this fall. The simplicity makes it easy to pair with anything, making this another easy trend you can try without having to step too far outside of your comfort zone. Thin ribbed knits are also a great layering piece, since there’s not a ton of fabric. This makes it easy to throw a cardigan over a ribbed top, or to pair a graphic tee with a ribbed knit skirt, making it almost impossible to mess up this fashion trend.
Fuchsia
An instant statement, fuchsia pink is everywhere this fall. Whether you use it as a pop of colour in your accessories, or are brave enough to wear a pant/skirt in this colour, either way this colour will have you turning heads in the best way possible. Plus, Fuchsia looks good on almost everyone!
